The Stowaway

Nestled in the basement of The El Dorado Lofts in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles’ historic core, The Stowaway has taken quite the journey to shore. Originally opened as the El Dorado in 2016 by Hollywood, New Orleans and San Francisco nightlife magnate Rio Hackford, the bar was six years in the making, and started with the history of the building. In 1914, financier N.W. Stowell opened the building as the Hotel Stowell, and the underground tenant was originally a speakeasy. Hackford, along with his partners Dave Neupert, Carl Lofgren, Raub Shapiro and Jim Peres, built the bar from scratch, pouring over every detail to create the perfect cocktail lounge - now called The Stowaway. A combination of classic and cutting edge, the bar is a tribute to its founder and visionary who passed in April 2022.
The Stowaway does not offer valet parking. There multiple lots available within walking distance as well as street parking.
