In the 1960s two lovers, a charismatic American socialite and dashing British aviator, decided to create a private romantic hideaway in a secret cove of Monte Argentario, inspired by its sheer beauty and breath-taking views. Glamorous friends, from Hollywood royalty to Europe’s high society, came to bathe in the pristine azure sea and party by moonlight, and, in 1965, the gorgeous Tuscan home was transformed into Il Pellicano. In 1979, renowned businessman Roberto Sciò fell in love with the property and bought it, making sure to maintain that same welcoming atmosphere. Today, his daughter Marie-Louise, Creative Director and CEO of Pellicano Hotels Group, is at its helm, and the tastemaker behind the property’s unique combination of freewheeling spirit and timeless charm.
