By choice of the painter, the museum was installed in the former Fábrica de Tecidos de Seda, in Jardim das Amoreiras, next to her house/studio in Lisbon. The Museum opened on November 4, 1994, with a collection made up of works donated by Vieira da Silva and the deposit of works from private collections. The Foundation also has a solid nucleus of works by Arpad Szenes, more than two thousand pieces in different techniques and supports. The museum carries out continuous research and editing work to provide the public with new information about the artists Arpad and Vieira and their group of friends.
