The Brandhorst Museum is dedicated to contemporary art. Since its opening in 2009, the house has established itself as one of the central locations for contemporary art in Germany. Behind the spectacular façade made of 36,000 ceramic rods, visitors from all over the world experience top works of art from the 1960s to the present day. The museum houses by far the largest collection of Andy Warhol's works in Europe. The focus on the work of Cy Twombly is also unique worldwide. His monumental "Lepanto" cycle (2001) is on permanent display in a room specially designed according to the artist's wishes.
