Arario Museum

Simple with Soul is the value, concept or philosophy of the museum established by Arario founder, collector and artist CI KIM while conceiving the Arario Museum project. It literally means 'soul-bearing simplicity'. Simplicity has become an important criterion not only for the visual aspects of the museum, such as design and interior, but also for determining the operation method of the museum. From the beginning, CI KIM pondered what kind of museum to make through a very simple yet basic question: 'What is a museum?' The question was simple, so the answer was simple. It was an art museum in which the work became the main character and the audience could breathe with the work. After all, the audience and the artwork are the most important elements that make up the Arario Museum. Lighting is the most important thing in appreciating a work of art. Therefore, a lot of attention was paid to lighting selection. In addition, in the interior, artificial elements that are decorative and eye-catching besides the artwork were boldly deleted. This is the reason why existing buildings such as Space Building (Seoul), Tapdong Cinema & Bike Shop, and Dongmun Motel Ⅰ (Jeju) were selected as museum spaces and transformed into exhibition halls with minimal renovation.
