About

Built as a tavern in the 14th century, today it is a boutique hotel where history, technology, and design coexist, capable of combining a refined atmosphere and attention to detail with all the modern services that make your stay pleasant and comfortable. Its location a few steps from Piazza Maggiore, much appreciated by guests, allows you to explore the entire historic center and the main sites of interest of the city on foot such as the Basilica of San Petronio, the Archiginnasio Library and the very modern Salaborsa multimedia civic library, Palazzo d'Accursio and the Two Towers. Phi Hotel Bologna is the ideal starting point not only for visiting monuments, churches, and museums but also for exploring historic markets, elegant shops, narrow streets, and enchanting hidden corners. Located since its origins in the central and secluded Via de' Fusari, it is the oldest place in Bologna dedicated to hospitality still active. From the Capel Rosso Inn, commissioned by the Bishop of Bologna Nicolò Albergati to ensure protection for the Jews passing through Bologna, it became accommodation for the architects and artists involved in the construction of the basilica of San Petronio, identified by an unusual cardinal's hat, commissioned by Cardinal Albornoz . In 1464 the building that contains the hotel was purchased by the famous professor Andrea Barbazza of the University of Bologna, who rented it in 1467 to the innkeeper Bertuccini.
