HochX

The HochX is a venue for theater and live art in the Au district of Munich, which reopened in autumn 2016 after extensive renovation work. Works from the areas of theater, dance, music, performance, literature, contemporary circus, and theater for young audiences will be shown. There are also guest performances from the national and international scene, including as part of various festivals such as DANCE or SPIELART. Since 2022, HochX has also been hosting Rodeo, the biennial festival of Munich's independent dance and theater scene. The HochX is supported by the state capital of Munich and sees itself as a space for testing and developing new aesthetics and working methods in the contemporary performing arts. Our goals include the professionalization of free work, the networking of artists across geographical and disciplinary boundaries, and the communication of aesthetic processes to a broad audience. In 2021, HochX was awarded the Federal Theater Prize.
