Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop is the oldest structure used as a bar in the United States. Built between 1722 and 1732, it showcases the old French Provincial Louis XV or Briquette-Entre-Poteauxe style. The building has a rich history, including its use by the Lafitte Brothers for their Barataria smuggling operation. Today, it stands as a testament to the diverse cultural influences of French, Spanish, African, Cajun, and American traditions.
