moksa is located in the village of Yase at the foot ofMt. Hiei, one of the two sacred mountains thatgave birth to Japanese Buddhism. Yase is home toJapan’s oldest steam-bath, created 1,350 years ago by the local villagers to heal an arrow wound sufferedin the Jinshin War by Prince Oami (later to become therevered Emperor Tenmu.). From that time,Yase came to be loved by samurai and nobles as a placefor healing both mind and body. The word “moksa” means “liberation from earthlycares” in Sanskrit. The name “moksa” encapsulates ourdesire for this place in Yase to provide an experiencethat washes away the cares of modern life, and re-invigorates your mind and body.
